World Heart Day: Kashmir Runners Club organizes run in Sgr | KNO

Event aimed to create awareness among masses; Dir Health asks people to participate in physical activities

Srinagar, Sep 29 (KNO): Kashmir Runners Club on Friday organized a run on the occasion of World Heart Day with an aim to create awareness among the masses about the heart diseases. According to the news agency—Kashmir news Observer (KNO), Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather was Chief Guest on the occasion. This morning, the run was organized from Bakhshi Stadium here and went through Rajbagh, Lal Chowk areas in which dozens of people from the club and from different walks as well participated. Besides prominent personalities, the children also participated in the run. A prominent Cardiologist posted at SMHS hospital, Dr Irfan Bhat, who was the Chief Organizer of the event, while speaking with the media persons said that the run was organized on the World Heart Day with an aim to raise awareness among the people about heart disease. At present, it has been observed that the lifestyle of people, especially youth has got affected; they are getting involved in drug addiction, which affects their health badly. The club has come up with an initiative to create awareness among the masses on this day to create awareness among the people and attract them towards the physical activities. According to the study, he said that it is mandatory for any individual to walk or run for at least 30 minutes in a day, which would keep their health condition better. In the past two years, he said that drug abuse is very common as both boys and girls are getting indulged in it. “At this juncture, I want to appeal to people to quit smoking and come out of the drug menace as such things can only ruin the health of an individual,” Dr Irfan said. Shafat ul Bashir, Chief Coach of the club said that the run for world heart day was organized to make people aware how much the physical activities are for them. “We have been taking classes every day without any fee at Bakhshi Stadium, we have been provided ground and other facilities by the Sports Council. The classes are being taken regularly at 6:30 in the morning,” he said. Meanwhile, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather while speaking on the occasion said that he is happy to see the club organizing such an event on World Heart Day. “It is the time when we need to spare some time to do physical activity so that our health remains good,” he said, adding that the people should not get indulged in drugs and rather should take part in sports activities. “There was a time when the heart disease was quite uncommon in Kashmir, but nowadays, it has become usual as the young people are getting involved in it, which is a grave cause of concern,” he added and appealed people to take part in physical activities—(KNO)
